The dark blue sky was tinted with the last few stripes of oranges, yellows and reds. A few clouds decorated the upcoming night, giving some light with their highlights. The soft light that lighted the ground suddenly met a cat.
Slow steps, low tail, heavy breath.... some things that described the grey she-cat that had taken one of the most dificult decisions of her life.
She was concentrated, thinking, not minding where she was or what surrounded her.
In her mind... there was confusion. In her heart... pain.
Pain for leaving her clan. Pain for knowing no one would even worry.
Rainwish remembered. Days before that, moons by now, when the clans had all became one in a time of worry.
She had seen Fluffywing and Pheasantcloud together after Peakclan was saved.
They where just two cats from the ocean of clancats that had filled Shellclan lands.
But what caught her attention was that he had taken the role of a father for the wounded molly.
They werent biogolically familly, and still he had taken care of her since Rabbithop dissapeared.
But... Why?
Why after that he still punished himself with the memory of the cat he had loved the most by taking care of her only heritage left?
Why he had brought her everything she needed and worried so much?
Why if he wasnt her father he had taking that dificult role for her?
Maybe because of that.
He loved her.
He still loved her.
Even when he knew she wouldnt come back.
He needed her, just like Fluffywing did.
That had brought them together and now they where a family again.
But why...
Why she felt... disgust towards them?
Why? She hadnt even talked with them!
...
Maybe because... She was jealous.
She wanted to be like them.
She wished she was like Pheasantcloud.
That she had taken care of her kits when she could.
But she didn't...
And now they where all gone... along the love of her life.
They had made their own family.
Flyleaf and Magpiewing now had kits of their own, and she loved them just like she should have done.
And Crabsnap... Her only girl... She had entered in their family.
She had made herself part of it.
Maybe Magpiewing wasnt her biological mother, but she had accepted her like if she was her kid.
Like Pheasantcloud and Fluffywing.
She sighted, her steps as slow as they where since she had left Waveclancamp.
Her goodbyes hadnt been long, like if she had anyone left anyway.
She had lost her parents, her siblings, her mentor and apprentice.
Her mate and even her kits.
She had no friends, Starclan knew she had tried.
But after her pregnancy no one wanted to be with her.
She wasnt angry or upset... She had been the only guilty one there.
She had destroyed everything.
On the last gathering not long ago she had said what she needed.
Or she wished that at least...
Crabsnap... Would never accept her apologies.
Not after all she had done.
And Flyleaf... Wel... Their story broke long ago.
Her heart ached as she padded along Oakclan territory.
Just maybe...
She glanced over the border, holding her breath, wishing that someone would appear.
Beinging her to clan.
Making her stay...
But as the minutes passed and her only hope broke down... she lowered her head holding her tears.
She approached the border, leaving the shell and the crab she had brought.
"Goodbye, let starclan guide your steps"
She whispered, turning around and running faster and faster.
Not being able to stay another minute there.
And so she went.
Till she left the clan territories.
Searching the twolegs.
Searching her new life.
But what she hadnt saw.
Where a pair of paws that had padded closer as she had started to ran away.
Now waiting by the shell's side.
Two small legs, followed by a fluffy hair that had never been so relaxed.
And so.
For the first time ever.
With a single tear in her eye.
Crabsnap watched as Rainwish ran away without being able to say a word.
Knowing she wouldnt see her again.
And when she couldnt see her anymore, she opened her mouth.
Saying just two words that she had no one thought she would say.
After that she took the gifts Rainwish had left back and started her way back to Oakclan.
The trees shook softly, not much wind anyway.
But they shook in pain, shaken as they knew they where the only ones that had heard her words...
"Goodbye... mom"
